We are currently seeking hospitality focused individuals for a handful of roles at Black Hills Winery. We offer a unique seated and guided tasting experience for which we are hiring a Wine Host for April to October 2021.

Black Hills Estate Winery is situated on the scenic Black Sage Bench in Oliver, British Columbia and has been producing premium wine in this region since 1999. Known for the Nota Bene Bordeaux inspired blend, our focus is presice vineyard management, minimal intervention in the winery, and world class wine experiences offered to the thousands of visitors we see annually.

The Wine Host will be responsible for section/reservation management, assisting in client purchases and greeting incoming patrons with the warmth that reflects our passion for hospitality. Wine Hosts are key in determining how each day will unfold in relation to organizing reservations, events VIP visits, & exclusive experiences.


We are looking for a teammate with:

  • A passion for the luxury hospitality industry
  • A high level of understanding of the importance of Customer Service
  • The ability to work well with others
  • An interest in using/acquiring wine knowledge
  • Exceptional communication skills both verbal and non-verbal
  • The ability to work under pressure in very fast paced environment
  • Ability to be a brand ambassador and convey our message with genuine pride
  • Due to our seated tasting format, you will get bonus points if you have restaurant service experience. *

The Teammate will be accountable for:

  • Greeting guests as they arrive with a friendly enthusiastic introduction
  • Organizing reservations for the day and maintaining appropriate seating availability in a fast-paced environment
  • Answering incoming phone calls; booking reservations and responding to wine shop inquiries
  • Assisting the Retail & Experience Manager with administrative duties when asked
  • Packaging wines & processing transactions on the Point of Sale system
  • Ability to multi-task and manage instances where customer complaints or concerns are brought up
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the wine shop, and keeping up with the polishing of wine glasses throughout each day
  • Responsible for cash reconciliation at the start and end of each day
