Opportunity at Trius Winery - Niagara-On-The-Lake, ON

We are seeking a detail oriented, collaborative, and analytical individual t to join our team for 4 months on a full-time contract beginning in August of 2017. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing required analysis of harvested juice and wine samples throughout the winemaking process

The successful candidate will be accountable for:

  • Participating in all health and safety initiatives within Laboratories and manufacturing facilities.
  • Following service requirements in a fast paced Laboratory that meet operational needs of Quality Assurance, Winemaking and Bottle shop.
  • Accurate microbiological, chemical tests as specified.
  • Maintaining HACCP and ABS requirements
  • Following non-conformance procedure.
  • Supporting and participating in all Company and Regulatory objectives and implement within Quality Control laboratories.
  • Data entry of analytical results
  • Adhering to Quality Assurance protocol to ensure accuracy of all results. This includes routine calibration of all instruments and analyses of national audits.
  • Performing maintenance and assist with trouble shooting of laboratory instruments.
  • Organizing and prioritize work for efficient laboratory operation.
  • Ensuring all methods are adhered to until new method development is completed before any changes are made.
  • Ensuring proper disposal of all hazardous chemical waste
  • Following W.H.M.I.S. requirements and provide for clean and safe working conditions.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications/skills:

  • Diploma in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or related experience.
  • 1-3 years in related field.
  • Knowledge of Chemistry, Microbiology, Sensory Evaluation and ABS (HACCP and ISO Standards).
