We are seeking a proactive, self-motivated Buyer Accessories to lead our Estate Wine Group (EWG) and The Wine Shop (TWS) non-wine accessories programs. The Buyer Accessories is responsible for driving revenue, margin and brand positioning through the effective sourcing, procuring and managing of non-wine accessories for resale in retail spaces and/or promotional activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing 500+ SKUs across 7 retail programs (6 unique branded Estate property programs and 1 program for all 100 TWS locations).

The successful candidate will be accountable for:

  • Developing and implementing buying strategy for 100 Ontario based retail stores (TWS), 7 unique estate properties (Ontario and BC), and Direct to Consumer gifting campaigns.
  • Developing annual accessory business plans designed to meet channel business targets and objectives and informed by brand tone and manner and emerging industry trends.
  • Identifying and developing strong supplier partners including negotiating "best price" supplier contracts and/or co-operative marketing and attending annual gift shows, visit supplier show rooms and conducts annual supplier reviews to assess relationship.
  • Continually adhering to "good, better, best "product matrix with a focus on unique, quality items.  Regular analysis of SKU performance and margin results.
  • Leading merchandising optimization program, including markdown strategy, timelines, effective distribution between stores / channels / warehouse.
  • Working closely with TWS retail, EWG and marketing stakeholders to establish and communicate buying and delivery schedule and conduct "post-game" review of program success.
  • Provides leadership and coaching to direct report (Expeditor Accessories) to ensure performance/talent/service excellence.
  • Following safe work procedures and practices and reports all unsafe working conditions/hazards to property Estate Manager.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications/skills:

  • University degree in a related discipline such as business or merchandise management.
  • Minimum 2 -5 years' experience as a buyer for a retail chain.
  • A cosmopolitan view of retailing and the trends informing home entertaining.
  • Leadership/coaching experience an asset.
  • Attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proactive, action-oriented approach.
  • Exceptional ability to time manage and prioritize.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high pressure environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, focusing on Word and Excel.
  • Product knowledge an asset.
