Seasonal Harvest Worker 2018

We require Seasonal Harvest/Crush temps in Calona Winery, Kelowna BC for the term mid-August to end of November 2018.

Working primarily in the grape processing area (mostly outside) for cellars during vintage and include but are not limited to:

  • forklift work loading and unloading trucks with grape bins (empty and full), washing and re-stacking bins
  • processing grapes (includes dumping grapes into hoppers, cleaning bins, re-stacking bins, preparing and making additions to the grapes, presses, tanks, juice, etc)
  • Shoveling out grape skins from tanks; confined space entry work
  • moving pumps and hoses, hooking them up and pumping product
  • moving bags of additives (up to 50 lb each)
  • cleaning & sanitizing equipment (presses, pumps, bins, de-stemmer/crusher, tanks, tubs, etc)
  • confined space entry work
  • other related duties as assigned by the Cellar Manger/Supervisor.

Qualifications:         

  • Grade 12 or equivalent; previous experience working in a manufacturing or fast paced physical environment
  • Must be self-motivated, organized, have good mathematical skills and mechanical aptitude ability
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse group of individuals
  • Actively support, understand and promote a culture focused on Health and Safety as well adhere to HACCP requirements and the GMP policy
  • Must be willing to work all shifts and work under minimal supervision
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.  Work will involve some heavy lifting and working in cold, damp conditions 
  • The successful applicant should be able to work effectively with Supervisors and co-workers to maximize performance, quality, and safety initiatives using a team-oriented approach.

This is a unionized position and belongs to the Brewery, Winery and Distillery Workers Local 300.   The hourly rate is $14.36 during the first 60 days while on probation and then increased to $16.24 per hour.
