Andrew Peller Limited is looking for a General Labourer to work cross-functionally within our Operations team! This role will responsible for working with cellars, warehouse and bottle shop personnel as they carry out the day to day duties of their respective departments.  Duties include, but are not limited to assisting with the execution of cellar operations as it relates to work tickets, assisting with the bottling/production of finished goods, and assembling orders all while meeting set quality standards and working in safe efficient and courteous manner.

 The successful candidate will be accountable for:

Cellars:

  • Assist lead hand in the operation and monitoring of equipment to crush and ferment the grapes.
  • Assist lead hand in the operation and monitoring of equipment to process, clarify and filter wine and spirits.
  • Operate cellar equipment such as pumps, hoses, flowmeters, etc for wine transfers and blending.
  • Make material additions to wine and transfers during fermentation.
  • Environmental and tank cleaning and sanitation, maintaining a neat and tidy work area at all times.
  • Observe gauges, record operating parameters and support lead hand to maintain operations within specification.
  • Follow the bulk receiving guidelines in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Follow ABS procedures and policies and report any deviation immediately to the Cellar Manager and Winemaker.
  • As requested count inventory on materials, wine and spirits.
  • Record and report any upset conditions to the lead hand, Cellar Manager and the Winemaker responsible for the wine and spirits process.
  • Consistently provides and strives for excellent internal and external Customer Service.
  • Follows safe work procedures and practices and reports all unsafe working conditions/ hazards to their reporting Manager.

BOTTLING:

  • Assists in the bottling and packaging of wine products including working at various work stations i.e.: Loading empty cases onto the production line, loading casks and shipping boxes onto Line 4 magazine and assembling gift boxes for wine bottles.
  • Hand-pack various sizes of bottles of wine into boxes for shipping.
  • Hand-palletize cases of wine for shipping.
  • Ensure all packaging loaded onto lines is free from damage. 
  • Loads bottles of wine onto the line for labelling or re-spinning of the capsule.
  • Responsible for de-bottling non-conforming product as per SOP.
  • Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's).
  • Reports any quality concerns to the Production Manager.
  • Cleans equipment and machines when required and ensures the work area is neat, clean and organized.
  • Follows safe work procedures and reports all unsafe working conditions / hazards to the Packaging Manager.
  • Reports work related injuries immediately to the Production Manager.

ODC:

  • Assists in the assembly of various wine components for shipment to consumers, businesses and wine club members. i.e.: Export, Duty Free, DTH, DTC, DTL, EWG, Wine Clubs and Service Stock.
  • As part of the assembly, ensure all shipments are properly prepared for shipping and accompanied by a bill of lading and packing labels.   
  • Performs order picking and other job assignments as requested by the Special Pack Assembler.
  • Ensures all product and components are free from damage during assembly.
  • Ensures that the workplace is neat, clean and organized at all times.
  • Manually loads skids and properly stages orders for shipment.
  • Follows safe working procedures and practices and reports any unsafe working conditions / hazards to the Special Pack Assembler.
  • Reports any workplace incidents or injuries to the Special Pack Assembler.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications/skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • HACCP training is an asset.
  • Excellent oral communication skills.
  • 1 2 years' work experience in a manufacturing/warehouse environment.
