The Marketing Analyst Core Portfolio is responsible for creating added value to APL by managing data analytics to provide market, channel, customer, and brand insights to support business strategies and decisions for the Marketing team. This role will represent the Business Intelligence department as a key player on the Core Portfolio Cross-Functional team by providing market performance reports of the Wine business. The Marketing Analyst will lead all market research by providing insights in support of APL's 5-year strategic plan of developing leading brands for revenue growth and increasing market share.

 The successful candidate will be accountable for:

Business Insights Lead on the Core Portfolio Cross Functional Team

  • Key member of the cross-functional Core Portfolio team with the responsibility to deliver growth on APL's business brands including: Peller Estates, Black Cellar, Copper Moon and XOXO; representing 180MM in revenue.
  • Primary researcher and responsible for providing market insights, forecasting, and developing go-to-market strategies.
  • Implement and execute core projects throughout the Integrated Business Process (IBP); managing data requirements from beginning to end.

Leads Marketing Research for Andrew Peller's Largest Brands

  • Primary contact for Brand Marketing for all external market information required Nationally on established and large wine brands, specializing in brands that are ICB or compete with ICB
  • Research varietal and size format opportunities that exist in competitive space, quantifying these and creating an implementation place on getting them into market
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain to identify future varietals in ICB; which will drive grape contracts
  • Expand ICB into taking share from Imported Brands with new varietals
  • Assist the Director of Marketing Core Portfolio by managing the facilitation of market insights and reports.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis, market insights, and recommendations on new product development to International & Canadian Wine (ICB) Brand Managers.
  • Search for new opportunities in the market that influence margin growth through pricing increases and portfolio reviews.

Corporate Strategic Support

  • Develop and evolve Corporate strategy, as organizational needs change, through: market research, consumer segmentation, competitive analyses, and benchmarking.
  • Engage in collaborative decision making with leadership to inform and support strategic choices and contextualize current performance.
  • Track competitive activity of ICB and Import brands nationally through brand, segment, and supplier reporting.
  • Utilize market information to identify opportunities, risks, and make recommendations to Senior Management.
  • Provide a recommendation on competitor companies for M&A opportunities within the Domestic Wine and Co-Packer space.
  • Collaborate with Sales Operations team as well as, Marketing Directors to develop a long-term view of demand existing in B2B.

 The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications/skills:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; Economics, Business or Sciences Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business or related area.
  • 5+ years' experience in related fields
  • Proficient in analytics, mathematics/statistics and highly comfortable with regression analysis, marketing mix modelling and cross-channel attribution models.
  • Advanced skills using spreadsheet and presentation tools.
  • Category Management knowledge is beneficial
  • Strong project management skills and proven ability to lead cross-functional mandates and deliver actionable insights.
  • Strong relationship management skills; ability to collaborate and rally key business partners (clients, agencies, internal partners) around new projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Performs well in an environment with competing priorities and multiple projects.
