The Strategic Insights Analyst - Eastern Canada is responsible for creating added value to the organization by managing data analytics to provide market, channel, customer, and brand insights to support fact based business strategies and decisions for the Sales and Demand Planning teams. This role is critical as they provide APL a stronger competitive advantage by effectively understanding and leveraging market data. This role assists with the development and improvement of the National Sales Team analytics and automation tool. This individual will work collaboratively with the Business Intelligence team to maintain an up-to-date database of market data and will provide analytics for executive customer decks working with the Sales VP's and Marketing team.  

 The successful candidate will be accountable for:

Eastern Canada - External Market Analysis

  • Responsible for leading Ad Hoc Research for Andrew Peller's Eastern B2B and B2C markets; including: Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic.
  • Conduct data mining and analysis to support the decision-making processes of sales and demand planning.
  • Work proactively with the Sales Managers to provide analytics to support the development of strategies, financial targets and objectives by channel, segment and brand.
  • Provide market information and recommendations for changing market conditions to TWS and Grocery channels
  • Monitoring and advising APL on changes to the wine business models for eastern provinces, for example new liquor board pricing models & implications
  • Collect data on competitors, the market place, and consolidate information into actionable items:
  • Create reports and presentations to prepare for Eastern B2B and B2C customer presentations and to internal stakeholders from Sales Representatives to Executive team
  • Responsible for providing insights for the Board of Director report & quarterly marketing market reviews.

Optimize Sales Coverage / Growth Incentive

  • Create and distribute coverage reporting to sales reps with quarterly update of territories
  • Collaborate with Sales Managers to establish objectives by channel and representative including:
  • Quarterly monitoring of Sales Representative's performance versus objectives and issuing of their reports.
  • Initiate "deep dive" analysis of underperforming territories to isolate issues and develop remedial recommendations.

Supports Sales and Business Insights Team

  • Provide market insights and prepare customer presentations for eastern B2B and B2C.
  • Compile and analyze statistical data using modern and traditional methods of collection.
  • Assist the Senior Analyst; Pricing, Promotion & Revenue by providing research regarding market pricing information.
  • Assist the Business Analyst & Reporting Analyst with developing reports; which can be used for ad-hoc or standardized research.
  • Collaborate with Sales Managers & Territory Representatives to create Tableau dashboards and training.

Internal Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Champion and 'Super User'

  • Member of the development team for the internal CRM tool: Andrew Peller Smart Sell system.
  • Provide continuous improvement to the CRM tool by maintaining a multifaceted platform to develop, improve, and retain a customer relationship through providing sales & market data.
  • Collaborate with Sales VP's, Sales Managers and Territory Representatives to create process, new dashboards and training.

Database Management

  • Responsible for the integrity of eastern B2B customer and internal data
  • Collaborate with the Association of Canadian Distillers (ACD) to correct liquor board data issues.
  • Key partner with internal Systems department to assist in developing new datasets or developing solutions to solve data problems

 The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications/skills:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; Economics, Business or Sciences Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business or related area.
  • 3+ years' experience in related fields
  • Proficient in analytics, mathematics/statistics and highly comfortable with regression analysis, marketing mix modelling and cross-channel attribution models.
  • Advanced skills using spreadsheet and presentation tools.
  • Category Management knowledge is beneficial
  • Strong project management skills and proven ability to lead cross-functional mandates and deliver actionable insights.
  • Strong relationship management skills; ability to collaborate and rally key business partners (clients, agencies, internal partners) around new projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Performs well in an environment with competing priorities and multiple projects.
