We are seeking a Technical Specialist Innovation to join our Quality Ontario team! Our future teammate will be responsible for responsible for management of Packaging ABS print specifications including labels, stelvin, cask, closures etc.  Our future teammate will participate in the internal auditing program including GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and third party HACCP audits. 

We are looking for a teammate with:

  • Degree or Diploma in Packaging Quality Management, or related experience.
  • 2 - 3 years' experience within a related field.
  • Knowledge of polymer chemistry, packaging materials (paper, paperboard, corrugate, metal, glass, closures and plastic applications), printing/decoration, labels and adhesives.
  • Knowledge of material performance in distribution environments.
  • Knowledge of ABS (HACCP and ISO Standards.
  • Strong Project Management skills.
  • Excellent use of Microsoft Word, Excel and packaging software.
  • Ability to work independently and also within a team environment.
  • Self-starter and organized with the ability to manage conflicting priorities/multiple projects within deadlines.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and influence.
  • Strong organizational skills.

 

This teammate will be accountable for....

Product/Package Development

  • Responsible for the Product/Package Development Print Information Process within the scope of the Quality elements. This includes new specification, label positioning, specification approvals.
  • Assists with the technical and plant trial testing for all package, product and process projects related to Innovation.
  • Consults with production line engineers to work out the best way to design the package, product and process.
  • Responsible for the development and presentation of package and product technical reports.
  • Responsible for assisting in the material specification development including the measurement and test requirements. This includes the administration and development of label position sheets.
  • Responsible for internal auditing including GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices). 

Research & Development

  • Support competitor market research on packaging and provide recommendations on trends.
  • Assist in the development of new concepts. 

Vendor/Supplier Management

  • Supports the Senior Technical Specialist, Innovation in the technical aspects of end to end innovation, processing, packaging, and warehouse functions.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with all external vendors and improve efficiency process through incorporation of new technology.
  • Interfaces with Sales or Customer Service (or other groups) in problem resolution, and continual improvement.
  • Recommends and implements modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
